Below is a list of projects to be undertaken in the next few weeks to find out what we can about the NIC. People interested in heading up a project or adding to this list should post a message to the thinknic mailing list.
- Internal and external photos
- Take pictures!
- Operating system file listing
- Report the contents of the default OS CD
- OS CD development
- Develop a drop-in replacement for the NIC's CD
- Boot from flash
- Investigate ways of booting a small Linux kernel from the flash partition in an attempt to free up the CD-ROM
- MP3 player
- Develop a replacement CD to play MP3s or streaming media from the NIC
- Alternative operating systems
- Build *BSD, Be, or other OS discs that will boot the NIC
- Hard drive installation
- Investigate whether it is possible for a hard drive to replace the built-in CD-ROM
